About Hybsun

Solar pumps. That's the
only thing they make.

Hybsun was founded in China in 2005 and has focused on one thing since: solar-powered water pumping systems. Not inverters, not panels, not batteries — just pumps. That focus shows in the detail. Every Hybsun pump uses a brushless permanent-magnet DC motor, which operates at over 90% efficiency, generates significantly less heat than brushed motors, and requires virtually no maintenance over its working life. There are no carbon brushes to wear down, no periodic servicing to schedule.

The range covers everything from compact pool circulation pumps to deep borehole submersibles reaching 210 metres. DC models run directly from solar panels during daylight — no battery, no inverter, no electricity consumption. Hybrid AC/DC models add the option to draw from the grid or a generator when the sun isn’t available, giving you water at any time of day or night. All models work with a separate MPPT controller that manages power from the solar panels — the controller connects between the panels and the pump and handles variable irradiance, soft-start, and automatic protections including dry-run shutdown, over/under-voltage and overtemperature protection.

CGP Solar supplies, sizes and installs Hybsun pumps across Cyprus — from villa pools in Paphos to deep agricultural boreholes in the Nicosia district — and ships to professional installers across Europe.

Hybsun Well Pump Series

Solar well pumps — how to choose the right model

A solar well pump replaces the conventional electric submersible that normally runs from the grid. The Hybsun range covers 3″, 4″ and 6″ borehole configurations from 45m to 210m depth. The key decision is DC vs AC/DC hybrid — not which is better, but which fits your situation.

DC models — run directly from solar panels during daylight, no battery or inverter needed. Water pumps when the sun is out and stops when it isn't. Best when you have a storage tank that fills during the day and your usage draws from the tank

AC/DC hybrid models— operate on solar by priority and switch to grid or generator automatically when solar output drops. Best when you need water at night or on a schedule independent of solar availability

Brushless permanent-magnet DC motor — operates at over 90% efficiency, doesn't require brush replacement, and produces less heat than conventional motors. Relevant for long-term reliability in deep well applications where servicing the pump means pulling it from the borehole

Separate MPPT pump controller — supplied and sized alongside the pump. The controller extracts maximum power from the panels at all irradiance levels and adjusts pump speed accordingly — slower flow in partial cloud, not a full stop

Dry-run protection, over/under-voltage shutdown, overload and overtemperature protection built in — automatic stop if the well runs dry, restarts automatically after 30 minutes

Available in 3", 4" diameter (most Cyprus residential and agricultural boreholes) and 6" (high-flow agricultural installations)

Hybsun Pool Pump Series

Solar pool pumps — eliminate your biggest pool running cost

Running a pool pump 6–8 hours a day in summer adds up. A Hybsun DC solar pool pump eliminates that electricity cost entirely during daylight hours. The pump runs directly from the solar panels — no battery, no inverter, no grid connection during daytime operation. The system includes a separate MPPT controller that mounts above ground between the solar panels and the pump. The pool circulates and filters while the sun is out, which is exactly when you most need it.

TSP series (DC)— surface-mount pool pump that runs entirely on solar during daylight. No battery, no inverter, no grid connection needed during operation. The pump motor has built-in MPPT drive electronics, and the system includes a separate MPPT controller unit mounted above ground between the panels and the pump. Up to 11,000 L/hr flow rate, 13m head. Your pool circulates and filters at zero electricity cost while the sun is out

SSP series (DC)— a second DC pool pump series with a higher head rating and higher flow capacity, suited to larger pools. Same solar-only operation, same separate MPPT controller between the panels and the pump.

TSP-H series (AC/DC hybrid)— the 24/7 option. Runs on solar by priority, switches automatically to grid or generator when solar drops. Useful if your filtration schedule runs into evening hours, or you want guaranteed circulation regardless of weather or season

Both models use NSK bearings and dual mechanical seals — designed for the continuous multi-hour operation that pool pumps demand.

Soft-start reduces mechanical stress on startup — important when the pump is switching between solar and grid in the hybrid model

Installation is straightforward — the pump plumbs in where your existing pump is, and the solar panel array connects directly to the controller

Hybsun Surface Pump Series

Solar surface pumps — for tanks, ponds and irrigation

A surface pump sits above water level and draws from a nearby source — a storage tank, a pond, a river, a cistern, or a shallow well. The Hybsun SCPM1500-17/55E is a 1,500W DC model that connects directly to solar panels and delivers up to 55m of head pressure — enough for most irrigation systems, elevated tanks and distribution networks on farms and rural properties across Cyprus.

SCPM1500-17/55E (DC) — 1,500W brushless DC motor. The system includes a separate MPPT controller unit above ground. Frequency conversion lets the pump slow down under partial irradiance rather than stopping entirely

CPM-H1500-17/55G (AC/DC hybrid) — identical pump with grid or generator backup. Useful for irrigation that needs to run on a timer, or when water supply can't wait for daylight

Up to 55m head — enough to fill elevated tanks, drive drip irrigation networks across a slope, or pressurize distribution to multiple zones simultaneously

NSK bearings and alloy mechanical seal — rated for continuous agricultural duty cycles, not domestic intermittent use

Separate MPPT controller unit— mounts outdoors near the panels, IP-rated for outdoor installation.

Hybsun Pool Pump Series

Solar pumps for farms, irrigation and rural water supply

Agricultural water in Cyprus is expensive and unreliable in some areas. A Hybsun solar jet pump eliminates the electricity cost of daytime irrigation entirely — the pump runs when the sun is out, which also happens to be the most effective time to irrigate (before the peak heat of the day). For irrigation that needs to run at night or on a fixed timer, the AC/DC hybrid adds grid or generator backup.

DC irrigation pump — Suitable for drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, olive groves, vineyards and small-to-medium farm plots. Draws from open water sources or tanks

AC/DC hybrid irrigation pump — same pump with grid or generator backup. Keeps irrigation running on schedule regardless of solar availability. Useful for greenhouse operations or properties where daily irrigation windows are fixed

All models include a separate MPPT controller between the solar panels and the pump that handles soft-start, dry-run protection, overload and over/under-voltage shutdown

Stainless steel body on submersible models — resists corrosion in Cyprus's mineralised groundwater, which can be aggressive to standard pump materials

Why Hybsun

What makes a solar pump
actually work in Cyprus

01

DC runs without a battery or inverter

A DC solar pump connects directly to the solar panels. No inverter to buy, no battery to charge, no conversion losses. The controller mounts outdoors near the panels. It’s the simplest solar system you can build — panels, wire, pump. This is what makes Hybsun DC pumps genuinely cost-effective for seasonal irrigation and pool circulation.

02

MPPT keeps it running through cloud

Each Hybsun system includes a separate MPPT controller that sits above ground between the solar panels and the pump. When cloud reduces solar output, the controller slows the pump to match the available power rather than stopping it entirely. Partial sun means slower flow, not no flow. Because the controller is above ground, it’s also accessible for inspection without pulling anything out of the ground.

03

Brushless motors last longer

Conventional pump motors use carbon brushes that wear down over time. Hybsun’s brushless permanent-magnet DC motors have no consumable components — efficiency stays above 90% throughout the motor’s life and there’s nothing to replace. For a pump installed 50+ metres down a borehole, that matters considerably.

04

Stainless steel construction

Hybsun submersible pump bodies use stainless steel construction — more durable than plastic-bodied pumps in the long term, and better suited to the varied water quality found in Cyprus boreholes. If your well has particularly hard or mineralised water, mention it during the sizing consultation and we’ll take it into account.

05

AC/DC hybrid for year-round reliability

DC is fine for seasonal irrigation or pool circulation during summer. If you need water in January, or after dark, or on a schedule regardless of weather, the hybrid model handles it — solar when available, grid or generator when not. The switchover is automatic and instantaneous.

06

CGP Solar sizes it correctly

Choosing the wrong pump is common and expensive — too small means insufficient flow, too large wastes money and pulls more current than the panels can supply. We size every Hybsun system based on your specific well depth, required flow rate, daily usage and panel array before recommending a model. The sizing consultation is free.

How to Order

Getting the right pump
for your property

Get in touch

Call, email or WhatsApp with basic information: the type of pump you need (well, pool, surface or irrigation), your location in Cyprus, and any details you have about your water source — well depth, existing pump model, or current water usage.

Pump sizing consultation

We ask you the right questions — borehole depth, required daily flow, whether you need 24/7 supply, and what solar panels you already have or plan to install. Getting the sizing right matters: an undersized pump won't meet your demand, and an oversized pump pulls more current than the panels can supply.

System proposal

We recommend the specific Hybsun model, the solar panel size and configuration needed to run it, and provide a quote for the complete system — pump, panels, cable, controller and any associated fittings.

Supply & installation

We supply the equipment and our team installs it — lowering the pump into the borehole, installing the panel array and connecting the controller. Most pump installations are completed in a single day.

Commissioning & handover

We test the system at different irradiance levels, confirm flow rate and head pressure, and walk you through normal operation, the controller display and what the protection indicators mean.

FAQ’s

Most asked questions
about Hybsun solar pumps in Cyprus

How Solar Pumps Work

How does a DC solar pump work?

A DC solar pump connects directly to solar panels. The solar panels generate DC electricity, which feeds into a separate MPPT controller that sits above ground between the panels and the pump cable. The controller adjusts pump speed to match the available power — full speed in bright sun, slower flow on partial cloud, off at night. There’s no battery, no inverter and no grid connection involved. The pump runs when the sun is out and stops when it isn’t. This simplicity is what makes it reliable and cost-effective for applications where daytime operation is sufficient.

What is the difference between DC and AC/DC hybrid solar pumps?

DC pumps run on solar only — no grid connection, no battery needed. They’re the right choice when daytime operation covers your requirements, like a tank that fills during the day or a pool that circulates while the sun is out. AC/DC hybrid pumps add the option to draw from the grid or generator when solar is insufficient — at night, during extended cloud, or when your usage exceeds what the sun provides. The hybrid adds flexibility and 24/7 reliability at a higher purchase price. We recommend the right type based on your specific usage pattern.

What is MPPT and why does it matter for solar pumps?
MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) is a function of the separate controller unit that sits above ground between the solar panels and the pump. It continuously adjusts the operating point to extract the maximum available power from the panels under changing irradiance. In practical terms: when a cloud reduces solar output, the MPPT controller slows the pump to match rather than stopping it entirely. The pump keeps running at reduced flow until the sun returns. Without an MPPT controller, a pump would stop every time cloud cover drops output below a threshold.

Choosing the Right Pump

How do I know which solar well pump is right for my borehole?

The key variables are: borehole depth (static water level, not just total depth), the required daily volume, and the casing diameter (most Cyprus residential boreholes are 4″, agricultural boreholes are sometimes 6″). You also need to decide between DC (solar only) and AC/DC hybrid based on whether you need 24/7 supply. CGP Solar sizes Hybsun pumps for every project — contact us with your well depth, daily volume requirement and location and we’ll specify the right model and the panel array needed to run it.

What size solar panel array does a Hybsun pump need?

As a general rule, the solar panel array should be sized at 1.3 to 1.5 times the pump’s rated power. A 550W well pump needs approximately 750–820W of panels. A 1,500W surface pump needs around 2,000–2,250W. Panel voltage also matters — the VOC (open circuit voltage) of the array must stay within the controller’s input range. We calculate the exact panel requirement for each installation during the sizing consultation. Using panels you already have is possible in some cases — we check compatibility before confirming.

Can I add a battery to a Hybsun DC pump to get water at night?
Technically yes, but for most situations the better solution is the AC/DC hybrid pump rather than adding battery storage to a DC pump. Battery storage adds significant cost and complexity. The hybrid pump achieves the same result — water whenever you need it — at lower system cost by using the grid or generator as backup rather than battery storage. If you’re in a fully off-grid location without grid access, we can discuss battery options, but for most Cyprus properties the hybrid model is the practical choice.

Is a solar pool pump worth it in Cyprus?

For most pool owners, yes. A conventional pool pump running 6–8 hours daily during summer consumes around 3–4 kWh per day. At current Cyprus electricity rates, that’s a meaningful annual cost across the swimming season. A Hybsun DC solar pool pump eliminates that cost entirely during daytime operation. The upfront cost is €539 for the DC model — at current electricity rates the payback period for many users is under two swimming seasons. If you want evening or early morning circulation as well, the hybrid model at €629 keeps the pump running around the clock.

Purchasing & Service

Where can I buy Hybsun solar pumps in Cyprus?

CGP Solar (cgpsolar.eu) is an authorised Hybsun distributor serving all of Cyprus — Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Famagusta. We supply the full Hybsun pump range and carry out complete solar pump system installations. Contact us for current stock availability and pricing.

Can I order Hybsun pumps if I'm an installer in Europe?

Yes. CGP Solar ships Hybsun solar pumps to professional installers and distributors across Europe — Greece, Germany, UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and beyond. All pumps carry CE certification. Contact us with your pump models, quantities and destination and we’ll confirm pricing, availability and shipping options.

What happens if the pump runs dry?

All Hybsun pumps include dry-run protection as standard. If the water level in the well drops below the pump intake, the pump detects the drop in current draw and shuts down automatically — typically within a few seconds of running dry. It then waits before attempting to restart. This protects the motor from overheating. Dry-run protection is standard on all Hybsun models.
