About Mingyang Smart Energy
Mingyang Smart Energy Group was founded in 2006 in Zhongshan, China — and they’ve taken a different path from most panel manufacturers. While others started in solar, Mingyang built their reputation in wind turbines first, operating offshore in the South China Sea where saltwater, humidity and continuous mechanical stress are everyday conditions. That engineering background matters when you’re choosing a manufacturer for a 30-year product.
On the solar side, Mingyang has gone further than most. They’ve pioneered what they call third-generation solar technology — moving beyond standard silicon into advanced heterojunction (HJT), chalcogenide and CdTe thin-film photovoltaics. Their Global Research Institute focuses specifically on reducing the cost of high-efficiency cells while accelerating their route to mass production — not a common combination in an industry where high efficiency usually means high cost. One example of this in their current panels: a UV-conversion encapsulant that converts ultraviolet light — normally wasted as heat — into visible light the cell can actually use, adding measurable output above what the module efficiency figure alone would suggest.
The panels we carry — the MYMH-54HD 450W and MYMH-60HD 480W — are N-type HJT modules. N-type HJT is where Mingyang has concentrated its commercial PV effort: higher efficiency, a better temperature coefficient than PERC, and slower long-term degradation. CGP Solar distributes and installs Mingyang panels across all of Cyprus and ships to professional installers across Europe.

Temperature coefficient on 450W — lower than most PERC panels at -0.35%/°C or worse.
Mingyang MYMH-54HD
The Mingyang HJT MYMH-54HD is the panel we’d put on a roof where space is a constraint and you want maximum output per square metre. At 23.0% module efficiency it’s among the higher-efficiency residential panels available in Cyprus — not because it’s overrated on a datasheet, but because HJT architecture genuinely produces more from less.
Mingyang MYMH-60HD
The Mingyang HJT MYMH-60HD is the higher-wattage panel in the Mingyang range. At 480W per panel with 22.2% efficiency, it’s designed for situations where total system capacity matters and there’s enough roof area to lay them out. The same HJT technology, same double glass, same 30-year linear warranty as the 450W — just more cells per panel and more watts per string.

Why HJT Matters in Cyprus
Standard PERC panels lose around 0.35–0.40% of their output for every degree above 25°C. HJT loses 0.255%. When a panel reaches 65°C on a summer day — common in Cyprus — that difference adds up across a day’s generation. Not a theory; measurable in real systems.
Plastic backsheets on standard panels absorb moisture over time, especially in humid coastal environments like Limassol, Paphos or Larnaca. Double glass panels have no backsheet to degrade. Both faces are sealed glass — the main cause of long-term micro-cracking and delamination is removed entirely.
P-type PERC panels lose a chunk of output in their first few hundred hours of sun exposure — this is LID (light-induced degradation), and it’s unavoidable with that cell chemistry. N-type HJT cells don’t have this problem. Year 1 loss on the Mingyang HJT 450W is just 1.0%, then 0.25%/year after that.
With bifaciality up to 90%, the rear of the panel generates power from light reflected off the roof surface or ground. On white-rendered roofs — common across Cyprus — this additional yield is real. Even on terracotta tile you get meaningful rear-side generation depending on panel height and tilt.
Mingyang’s 30-year linear power warranty isn’t a stepped curve that looks good on a brochure but leaves you with an 80% panel at year 25. It’s a linear guarantee — 0.25% per year on the 450W model. At year 30, the panel still delivers well over 90% of its original rated output.
At 23% efficiency, the MYMH-54HD produces around 15–20% more power per square metre than a typical 19–20% PERC panel. On a roof where space limits how many panels you can fit — a very common situation in Cypriot village properties and urban rooftops — that gap translates directly to kilowatt-hours.

FAQ’s
About the Technology
HJT (Heterojunction Technology) is a panel architecture that combines a crystalline silicon wafer with thin amorphous silicon layers on both sides. The practical result is a lower temperature coefficient (less output loss as the panel heats up), no light-induced degradation in year one, and a bifacial structure that generates power from both front and rear. Mingyang also uses a UV-conversion encapsulant that turns ultraviolet light into usable visible light within the cell rather than losing it as heat — a small but real addition to total output in early mornings, late afternoons and cloudy days. Standard PERC panels use P-type cells and a plastic backsheet — they degrade faster, lose more output in heat, and don’t generate from the rear side. For Cyprus’s climate, the temperature coefficient difference is measurable in real annual yield.
Bifacial means the panel generates electricity from both the front and rear surface. The rear generates from light reflected off the surface beneath the panel — the roof, ground or mounting structure. With up to 90% bifaciality, the rear-side output reaches up to 90% of the front-side efficiency. On white-rendered rooftops common in Cyprus, reflected light can add 5–15% additional yield depending on panel height and surface colour. Terracotta tile and light concrete also provide useful rear-side gain.
Warranty & Durability
A linear warranty means the degradation is guaranteed to follow a straight line — 0.25% per year on the 450W model, 0.35% per year on the 480W — rather than a stepped curve that allows faster degradation in early years and calls it “within spec.” At year 30, the 450W panel must still produce at least 92.5% of its original rated output under this warranty. Most PERC panel warranties offer 80% at year 25. The difference is meaningful over the life of the system.
Yes — this is where the double glass design is particularly relevant. The main long-term failure mode for panels in coastal environments is moisture penetration through the plastic backsheet, which causes micro-cracking, delamination and gradual output loss. Mingyang HJT panels use 2mm semi-tempered glass on both sides — there is no backsheet to degrade. They also hold certification to IEC 61701 (salt mist resistance), which means they’re tested specifically for coastal environments. For properties in Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca or the coastal villages, this matters.

Mingyang HJT panels are compatible with all major inverter brands — they’re standard IEC-certified modules. We commonly pair them with KSTAR BlueSpark hybrid inverters (single or three-phase) for complete solar + storage systems, Enphase IQ8 microinverters for complex or shaded rooftops, and Schneider Electric XW Pro for demanding off-grid or hybrid installations. The right inverter depends on your property’s connection type, whether you want battery storage, and your load profile.
It depends on your energy consumption, roof size and whether you’re adding battery storage. For an accurate calculation we need your electricity bills and a look at your roof. The site survey is free.
Technical & Compatibility
Enphase IQ8 microinverters are compatible with virtually all commercial solar panels. The IQ8 series covers panels from roughly 235W to 460W+ depending on the specific IQ8 model. Because each microinverter connects to a single panel, you can mix panel brands or add newer panels later without any compatibility issues — a significant practical advantage over string inverter systems.
No. Your Enphase system generates, stores and uses solar energy regardless of whether it’s connected to the internet. An internet connection is needed for the IQ System Controller 3 to upload data to the Enlighten cloud and for you to view live monitoring in the app remotely. The system stores up to one year of performance data locally — so if internet is unavailable for a period, the data isn’t lost and syncs when reconnected. Backup functionality also works without internet access.
