Inverters
The XW Pro (8.5 kW) is the higher-capacity model with 2× surge capability — designed for properties with large motor loads like air conditioning compressors, water pumps and refrigeration. The SW (4 kW) is the smaller model suited to homes and small businesses with more moderate loads. Both support off-grid operation and generator integration, both produce pure sine wave output, and both work within the same Conext monitoring ecosystem. The right choice depends on your total load profile and peak demand requirements — we work this out during the system design consultation.
When motors start — air conditioning compressors, pool pumps, well pumps, refrigeration units — they draw significantly more current than their running load for a fraction of a second. This peak is called the surge or inrush current. An 8.5 kW inverter with 2× surge can deliver 12,000W for that brief interval. Without adequate surge capacity, the inverter trips under the inrush load and the appliance won’t start. The XW Pro’s 2× surge means it can start any typical household load without manual load management.
Schneider XW Pro is the better specification when: the property has large motor loads that require 2× surge capability, the installation is off-grid or in a remote location where reliability over many years matters more than cost, generator integration is required, or battery brand flexibility is a priority. KSTAR BlueSpark is more cost-effective for standard residential hybrid and grid-tied applications where surge demands are typical and a grid connection is available. Both are good products — the site and load profile determine the right choice.
System & Purchasing
The XW Pro has broad battery compatibility — it works with lithium iron phosphate (LFP), lithium NMC, AGM and flooded lead-acid battery banks. It’s not locked to a proprietary battery brand. For lithium batteries, proper configuration of the battery charging parameters and communication protocol matters — we handle this during commissioning.
