Description

What It Is

KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS — the mid-tier of the BluePulse Series

The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS is the mid-scale configuration of KSTAR’s BluePulse commercial range. It pairs a hybrid inverter from KSTAR’s new DP2 family (KAC30DP2, KAC40DP2, KAC49.9DP2 or KAC50DP2) with the BC197DE2 (197 kWh) or BC215DE2 (215 kWh) outdoor battery cabinet — CATL LFP cells throughout, eight pre-configured combinations covering most mid-sized C&I sites in Cyprus.

The DP2 inverter family is KSTAR’s latest hybrid-inverter generation, with 4 MPPT trackers, a wide battery voltage range of 150–950 V DC, IP65 outdoor rating, and 97.5% peak efficiency. The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS is delivered factory-built with the battery cabinet (cabinet + cooling + safety + BMS) plus the inverter, ready to commission on a concrete pad.

Cell Manufacturer

CATL · the world's largest battery cell producer

The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS uses 280 Ah large-capacity LFP cells manufactured by CATL — the world’s largest battery cell producer and the standard supplier for utility-scale and C&I stationary storage globally. The cells inside the cabinet are not white-label or rebadged. This level of transparency about cell origin is unusual in the C&I ESS market, and one of the strongest technical reasons to specify the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS over generic alternatives.

Outdoor cabinet — designed to sit on a hardstand, not in a building

Both cabinets used in the KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS are rated IP54 with C4 anti-corrosion, designed for outdoor installation on a concrete pad without an enclosure building. The operating temperature range is −30 °C to +50 °C, with a built-in air-conditioner cooling unit to keep the cells inside the optimum thermal band even through Cyprus summer heat. The cabinet footprint is 1324 × 2415 × 1440 mm (W × H × D); weight is under 2.4 tonnes for the 197 kWh variant and under 2.55 tonnes for the 215 kWh variant.

One single-line system — integrated BMS and EMS

The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS uses KSTAR’s own integrated battery management system (BMS) and energy management system (EMS). The system supports self-consumption, peak shifting, time-of-use and battery backup as operating modes. Communication uses Ethernet, CAN and RS485 ports with CAN and MODBUS TCP/IP protocols — keeping the system compatible with third-party SCADA and building-management platforms.

Why It Stands Out

What KSTAR built into the BluePulse 30-50 kW DP2 family

10 ms on/off-grid switching — no separate UPS required

KSTAR specifies an on/off-grid switching time of approximately 10 ms, with direct output to backup loads. The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS does not require an external transfer switch. Sensitive loads — servers, production line PLCs, refrigeration compressors — generally ride through a 10 ms transfer without rebooting or tripping.

280 Ah CATL large-format LFP cells

The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS battery modules use 280 Ah large-capacity LFP cells manufactured by CATL, organised as 11 modules (197 kWh) or 12 modules (215 kWh) of 17.92 kWh each. The chemistry is lithium iron phosphate — the most thermally stable lithium chemistry on the market.

DC and AC-coupled solar-storage flexibility

The DP2 inverter family is hybrid by design — the KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS connects PV directly via 4 MPPT trackers, and also supports AC coupling for adding storage to existing PV installations.

97.5% maximum inverter efficiency · 4 MPPT trackers

The DP2-family inverters inside the KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS achieve a maximum efficiency of 97.5%, with 4 MPPT trackers (2 strings per MPPT) and a wide MPPT voltage range of 250–950 V DC (max input 1000 V). On the battery side they support a very wide range of 150–950 V DC, with a rated band of 180–800 V — designed to pair seamlessly with the BC197DE2 and BC215DE2 cabinets.

Up to 100 kWp PV per inverter (50 kW model)

0.5 C charge/discharge rate · 90% DoD

IP54 outdoor cabinet · C4 anti-corrosion

Air-conditioner cooled · −30 to +50 °C

Integrated BMS & EMS — no third-party EMS needed

Cloud monitoring 24/7

Wide operating altitude up to 3000 m

MODBUS TCP/IP for SCADA integration

Backup Power

What can keep running during an EAC outage?

When the grid drops, the KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS switches to backup output in approximately 10 ms — fast enough that most sensitive electronics never notice. No external transfer switch required.

How much you can power during an outage depends on inverter size and battery capacity:

Usable capacity at 90% DoD: 177 kWh (197 kWh cabinet) or 193 kWh (215 kWh cabinet). Real runtime depends on state of charge when the outage starts.

What can the KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS run during an outage?

A 30–50 kW backup output is enough to power most of a mid-sized commercial site. With a 50 kW + 215 kWh configuration (193 kWh usable):

Small factory — production lines, CNC, conveyors · up to 50 kW · ~3.9 hours full load

Cold storage— freezers, walk-in coolers, chillers · 20–30 kW cycling · 6–10 hours

Hotel essentials— lighting, HVAC, kitchen, lifts · 25–40 kW · 5–8 hours

Server room & IT— racks, networking, cooling · < 15 kW · 12+ hours

Agricultural sites — irrigation, milking parlour, refrigeration · 20–35 kW · 5.5–10 hours

Retail / supermarket — full lighting, freezers, POS · 25–40 kW · 5–8 hours

EV chargers (during outage)— 1× 50 kW DC charger or 2× 22 kW AC chargers

Mixed essential loads— lighting, fridges, computers, fire · 5–10 kW · 19+ hours

Three-phase, single-phase, or mix?

The KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS backup output is three-phase (3L+PE+N at 230/400 V or 220/380 V). Max single-phase output is 25 kW (50 kW models) or 20 kW (smaller models) — if one phase carries most of your critical load, the system can handle this on that single phase, with remaining load balanced across the other two phases.

Genset input — for long outages

Every KSTAR BluePulse 30-50 kW commercial ESS hybrid inverter has a dedicated generator (genset) input (max 110 A on 30/40/49.9 kW · 163 A on 50 kW). If your site already has a backup generator, the BluePulse can co-ordinate with it: battery handles short outages and the smooth response window; the generator covers extended events.

Most asked questions
about KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS

What's the difference between KAC49.9DP2 and KAC50DP2?

The KAC49.9DP2 is rated at 49.9 kW specifically to qualify for grid-connection rules that fast-track approval for systems below 50 kW (e.g. UK G99). The KAC50DP2 delivers 50 kW. Otherwise they share the same DP2 architecture, 4 MPPT trackers, 97.5% efficiency and IP65 rating.

Are the 197 kWh and 215 kWh cabinets confirmed compatible with the DP2 inverters?

Yes. KSTAR’s product compatibility matrix officially confirms that the KAC50DP2 inverter pairs correctly with both BC197DE2 (197 kWh) and BC215DE2 (215 kWh) outdoor battery cabinets, in both 1×PCS+1×BAT and 1×PCS+2×BAT system configurations. The smaller DP2-family inverters (KAC30/40/49.9) share the same battery-side specifications.

Does the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS work in Cyprus summer heat?

Yes. The battery cabinet is rated for operation from −30 °C to +50 °C ambient and uses an integrated air-conditioner cooling unit to keep the cells at the optimum internal temperature regardless of outside heat. The hybrid inverter is rated from −25 °C to +60 °C with derating above +45 °C. The KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS sits well inside the design envelope for Cyprus conditions.

Can I install the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS outside without a building?

Yes. The cabinet is rated IP54 with C4 anti-corrosion. It is designed to sit on a concrete pad outdoors. The inverter is rated IP65 and is wall-mounted — typically inside a service room or in a sheltered outdoor location.

What's the difference between the 197 kWh and 215 kWh KSTAR BluePulse cabinets?
The cabinet dimensions are identical (1324 × 2415 × 1440 mm). The 197 kWh BC197DE2 holds 11 battery modules at a nominal voltage of 704 V; the 215 kWh BC215DE2 holds 12 modules at 768 V. The 215 kWh variant of the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS provides roughly one extra hour of evening discharge at typical commercial peak loads.

Are the batteries really CATL cells?
Yes. The KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS
cabinets use CATL’s 280 Ah LFP cells — the same chemistry CATL supplies to utility-scale BESS projects worldwide. CATL is the global leader in LFP cell production for stationary storage.

How fast does it switch to backup during a grid outage?

KSTAR specifies the on/off-grid switching time of the BluePulse C&I ESS at approximately 10 ms. The system supports direct output to backup loads without a separate switching device or transfer switch.

What operating modes does the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS support?

Self-consumption, peak shifting, time-of-use and battery backup. Modes are configurable through KSTAR’s integrated EMS via cloud portal.

How long can the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS keep my site running during an outage?

It depends on inverter size and battery. Typical figures for a 50 kW + 215 kWh configuration (193 kWh usable at 90% DoD): around 3.9 hours at full 50 kW load, 5–8 hours at typical commercial loads of 25–40 kW, or 19+ hours running only essential loads of 5–10 kW. Smaller inverters give longer runtime per kWh.

What's the warranty on the KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS?

KSTAR’s official warranty is two-part: a 5-year product warranty covering the full KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS (battery cabinet, hybrid inverter, BMS, EMS, cooling, safety hardware), plus a 10-year performance/cycle warranty covering the CATL LFP battery’s usable capacity. CGP Solar, as authorised KSTAR distributor in Cyprus, handles all warranty claims directly.

Do I need a separate UPS or transfer switch for backup?

No. The KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW commercial ESS has direct backup output built into the hybrid inverter with approximately 10 ms on/off-grid switching. No external transfer switch or separate UPS is required — sensitive loads like servers and PLCs ride through the 10 ms transfer without rebooting.

Is there a larger system available?

Yes. The 80–125 kW BluePulse range (KAC80/100/110/125 DP2) is the next step up, with the same battery cabinet options (197 / 215 kWh). See our KSTAR BluePulse 80–125 kW C&I ESS page.
