Description

What It Is

KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS — outdoor commercial energy storage in one cabinet plus inverter

The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS is a complete commercial and industrial energy storage solution sold as two coordinated units: an outdoor LFP battery cabinet from the BluePulse BC series BC197DE2 (197 kWh) or BC215DE2 (215 kWh) and a wall-mounted hybrid inverter from the KAC DP2 series (KAC80DP2, KAC100DP2, KAC110DP2 or KAC125DP2). The KSTAR BluePulse Series C&I ESS battery cabinet is delivered factory-built with the modules, the air-conditioner cooling unit, the full safety package and the integrated BMS already inside, the hybrid inverter mounts separately on a wall and connects via the DC and CAN/RS485 ports.

CGP Solar offers eight pre-engineered KSTAR BluePulse Series 80-125 kW C&I ESS combinations that fit typical Cyprus C&I sites — the 80 kW + 197 kWh, 80 kW + 215 kWh, 100 kW + 197 kWh100 kW + 215 kWh, 110 kW + 197 kWh, 110 kW + 215 kWh, 125 kW + 197 kWh and 125 kW + 215 kWh. These cover most factory, hotel and agricultural projects in the 80 kW–125 kW peak load class.

Cell Manufacturer

CATL cells inside every KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS

KSTAR officially confirms CATL as the cell manufacturer for the BC197DE2 and BC215DE2 cabinets — both use CATL’s 280 Ah LFP cells. CATL is the global leader in LFP cell production for stationary storage. Buying a KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS means the cells inside the cabinet are not white-label or rebadged. This level of transparency about cell origin is unusual in the C&I ESS market.

Outdoor cabinet — designed to sit on a hardstand, not in a building

The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS battery cabinet is rated IP54 with C4 anti-corrosion, so it can be installed outdoors on a concrete pad without needing an enclosure building. The operating temperature range is −30 °C to +50 °C, with a built-in air-conditioner cooling unit to keep the cells inside the optimum thermal band even through Cyprus summer heat. The cabinet footprint is 1324 × 2415 × 1440 mm (W × H × D), weight is under 2.4 tonnes for the 197 kWh variant and under 2.55 tonnes for the 215 kWh variant.

One single-line system — integrated BMS and EMS

Every KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS uses KSTAR’s own integrated battery management system (BMS) and energy management system (EMS). The system supports self-consumption, peak shifting, time-of-use and battery backup as operating modes — all selectable from the cloud monitoring portal. Communication uses Ethernet, CAN and RS485 ports with CAN and TCP protocols, keeping the KSTAR BluePulse C&I ESS compatible with most third-party SCADA and building-management systems.

Why It Stands Out

What they built into the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS DP2 family

98% maximum inverter efficiency · 8 MPPT trackers

The DP2-family inverters inside the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS achieve a maximum efficiency of 98%, with 8 MPPT trackers (2 strings per MPPT) and a wide MPPT voltage range of 250–950 V DC (max input 1000 V). On the battery side they support a wide range of 200–950 V DC — designed to pair seamlessly with the BC197DE2 and BC215DE2 cabinets.

10 ms on/off-grid switching — no separate UPS required

KSTAR specifies an on/off-grid switching time of approximately 10 ms, with direct output to backup loads. No external switching device or transfer switch is required for the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS. Sensitive loads — servers, production line PLCs, refrigeration compressors — generally ride through a 10 ms transfer without rebooting or tripping.

280 Ah CATL large-format LFP cells

The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS battery modules use 280 Ah large-capacity LFP cells manufactured by CATL. Battery module capacity is 17.92 kWh; the system uses 11 modules (197 kWh variant) or 12 modules (215 kWh variant) per cabinet. The chemistry is lithium iron phosphate — the most thermally stable lithium chemistry on the market and the global standard for stationary C&I storage.

DC and AC-coupled solar-storage flexibility

The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS works with both DC-coupled topology (PV connected directly to the hybrid inverter) and AC-coupled topology (separate PV inverter on the AC side). DC coupling is more efficient for new installations; AC coupling is the choice for adding the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS to an existing PV plant that already has its own grid-tie inverter.

0.5 C charge/discharge rate · 90% DoD

Up to 250 kWp PV per inverter (125 kW model)

Self-consumption, peak shifting, ToU & backup modes

Backup Power

What can keep running during an EAC outage?

When the grid drops, the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS switches to backup output in approximately 10 ms — fast enough that most sensitive electronics never even notice. There’s no external transfer switch required, the inverter has direct backup output built in.

How much you can power during the outage depends on the inverter size. Here are real backup capacities from the KSTAR BluePulse C&I ESS datasheet:

Inverter

Max kVA
Runtime at full load (197 kWh)
Runtime at full load (215 kWh)
KAC80DP2
80 kW
88 kVA
~2.2 hours
~2.4 hours
KAC100DP2

121 kVA
~1.6 hours
~1.75 hours
KAC125DP2
125 kW
125 kVA
~1.4 hours
~1.55 hours

Usable capacity at 90% DoD: 177 kWh (197 kWh cabinet) or 193 kWh (215 kWh cabinet). Real runtime at typical commercial loads (30–60% of inverter rating) is substantially longer — often 4–8 hours.

What can the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS actually run during outage?

Below is a practical guide based on continuous loads. Actual runtime depends on cabinet size, state of charge when the outage hits, and how many loads are running at once. All examples assume the 100 kW / 215 kWh KSTAR BluePulse C&I ESS variant with a fully charged battery.

Factory production line — three-phase motors, CNC machines, conveyors, PLCs and compressors up to 100 kW continuous · ~1.9 hours full-load runtime

Cold storage & refrigeration— commercial freezers, walk-in coolers and industrial chillers · cycling load typically 30–60 kW · 3–6 hours

Hotel essentials— full lighting, room HVAC, kitchen, lifts, reception, Wi-Fi, water pumps · ~40–70 kW depending on occupancy · 2.7–4.8 hours

Server room & IT load— server racks, networking, cooling for the IT room · typically under 20 kW · 9+ hours (no separate UPS needed thanks to 10 ms switching)

Agricultural & irrigation — three-phase irrigation pumps, dairy refrigeration, milking parlour, packing line · 50–80 kW · 2.4–3.8 hours

Retail / supermarket— full store lighting, freezers, refrigeration, POS, security · 40–60 kW continuous · 3.2–4.8 hours

EV chargers (during outage)— typically derated to match available backup capacity · 1× 50 kW DC charger or 4–8× 22 kW AC chargers on the 100 kW inverter

Mixed essential loads— lighting, fridges, computers, phones, fire systems, ventilation · 5–15 kW · 14+ hours

Three-phase, single-phase, or mix?

The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS backup output is three-phase (3L+PE+N at 230/400 V or 220/380 V). Max single-phase output is 50 kW across all DP2 models — meaning if one phase carries most of your critical load, the system can handle up to 50 kW on that single phase, with the rest balanced across the other two phases up to the full system limit.

Genset input — for long outages

Every KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS hybrid inverter has a dedicated generator (genset) input with up to 220 A capacity. If your site already has a backup generator, the BluePulse can co-ordinate with it: battery handles short outages and the smooth response window; the generator kicks in only for extended events. This combination is common on agricultural and industrial sites where outages can last hours.

What’s recommended for backup planning?

The most common mistake in C&I backup design is treating every load as critical. CGP Solar splits backup planning into four groups:

Group 1 — Always-on: three-phase motors, CNC machines, conveyors, PLCs and compressors up to 100 kW continuous · ~1.9 hours full-load runtime

Group 2 — Operations-critical: Production lines, HVAC, kitchen equipment. On backup if SOC > 30%.

Group 3 — Convenience: Decorative lighting, secondary equipment. Off during outages to extend runtime.

Group 4 — Non-critical:Things that can wait. Shed automatically below 20% SOC.

This load-tier split is configured at install. The integrated EMS in every KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS supports automatic load shedding based on battery state of charge, so the system protects itself and extends backup time without manual intervention.

FAQ’s

Most asked questions
about KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS

Does the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS work in Cyprus summer heat?

Yes. The battery cabinet is rated for operation from −30 °C to +50 °C ambient and uses an integrated air-conditioner cooling unit to keep the cells at the optimum internal temperature regardless of outside heat. The hybrid inverter is rated from −25 °C to +60 °C with derating above +45 °C. The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS sits well inside the design envelope for Cyprus conditions.

Can I install the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS outside without a building?

Yes. The cabinet is rated IP54 with C4 anti-corrosion. It is designed to sit on a concrete pad outdoors. The inverter is rated IP65 and is wall-mounted — typically inside a service room or in a sheltered outdoor location.

What's the difference between the 197 kWh and 215 kWh KSTAR BluePulse cabinets?
The cabinet dimensions are identical (1324 × 2415 × 1440 mm). The 197 kWh BC197DE2 holds 11 battery modules at a nominal voltage of 704 V; the 215 kWh BC215DE2 holds 12 modules at 768 V. The 215 kWh variant of the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS provides roughly one extra hour of evening discharge at typical commercial peak loads.

Are the batteries really CATL cells?
Yes. The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS cabinets use CATL’s 280 Ah LFP cells — the same chemistry CATL supplies to utility-scale BESS projects worldwide. CATL is the global leader in LFP cell production for stationary storage.

Can I connect existing solar PV to the KSTAR BluePulse system?

Yes. KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS supports both DC-coupling (PV connected directly to the KAC hybrid inverter via its 8 MPPT trackers) and AC-coupling (existing PV continues to use its own grid-tie inverter, the KSTAR BluePulse system sits on the AC side). AC-coupling is typical when adding storage to an existing PV installation.

How fast does it switch to backup during a grid outage?

KSTAR specifies the on/off-grid switching time of the BluePulse C&I ESS at approximately 10 ms. The system supports direct output to backup loads without a separate switching device or transfer switch.

What operating modes does the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS support?

Self-consumption, peak shifting, time-of-use and battery backup. Modes are configurable through KSTAR’s integrated EMS via cloud portal.

How long can the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS keep my site running during an outage?

It depends on cabinet size and how much of the site is on the backup circuit. With a fully charged 100 kW / 215 kWh KSTAR BluePulse C&I ESS (193 kWh usable at 90% DoD): around 1.9 hours at full 100 kW load, 3–5 hours at typical commercial loads of 40–60 kW, or 14+ hours running only essential loads of 10–15 kW. Real runtime depends on state of charge when the outage starts and which load groups you keep online — both planned at install.

What's the warranty on the KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS?

KSTAR’s official warranty is two-part: a 5-year product warranty covering the full KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS (battery cabinet, hybrid inverter, BMS, EMS, cooling, safety hardware), plus a 10-year performance/cycle warranty covering the CATL LFP battery’s usable capacity. CGP Solar, as authorised KSTAR distributor in Cyprus, handles all warranty claims directly.

Do I need a separate UPS or transfer switch for backup?

No. The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW Commercial ESS has direct backup output built into the hybrid inverter with approximately 10 ms on/off-grid switching. No external transfer switch or separate UPS is required — sensitive loads like servers and PLCs ride through the 10 ms transfer without rebooting.

Can I connect a backup generator to the KSTAR BluePulse 80–125 kW Commercial ESS?

Yes. The KSTAR BluePulse 80-125 kW C&I ESS hybrid inverter has a dedicated genset input rated up to 220 A. For long outages, the battery handles the fast response window and short events, while the generator covers extended runtime. Common configuration for agricultural and industrial sites where outages can exceed several hours.

Is there a smaller version available?

Yes. The 30–50 kW BluePulse range (KAC30/40/49.9/50 DP2) is the next step down, designed for mid-sized factories, hotels and agricultural sites with peak loads in the 30–50 kW class. Same CATL LFP cells, same outdoor cabinet, AIT-tested, same KSTAR warranty. See our KSTAR BluePulse 30–50 kW C&I ESS page.
