Our range of solar water pumps in Cyprus

Whatever you’re pumping from — a well, a pool, a storage tank or an irrigation line — there’s a Hybsun model sized for it. DC-only for daytime use, AC/DC hybrid for around-the-clock supply.

DC-only or AC/DC hybrid?

Both are available in every pump category

Well pumps, pool pumps, surface pumps and agricultural pumps all come in both solutions. The right choice depends on whether you need water only in daylight, or around the clock.

Simpler · lower cost

DC-only Solar Water Pumps

Panels → MPPT controller → pump

Best for:

Wells feeding storage tanks, pool circulation during daylight, drip irrigation for olive groves and vineyards, off-grid farms.

24/7 supply

AC/DC Hybrid Solar Water Pumps

Panels + grid → smart pump (no inverter needed)

Best for:

Greenhouses with scheduled irrigation, livestock water supply, domestic pressure systems, deep boreholes with critical demand, year-round pool filtration.

How it works

Three components. That's it.

A solar water pumping system is simpler than a full home solar setup.

Solar Panels

Usually 2 to 8+ panels depending on pump size. Mounted on a nearby roof, ground frame, or pole close to the well.
Step 01

MPPT Controller

Weatherproof box mounted near the panels. Tracks the maximum power point, provides dry-run protection, and manages voltage.
Step 02

Submersible Pump

Drops into the borehole and sits below the water line. Pumps water up through a pipe to your storage tank or distribution network.
Step 03

Solar water pumps in Cyprus

Solar Water Pumps Guide

Everything you need to know about solar water pumps in Cyprus

Solar water pumps in Cyprus are the most cost-effective way to move water on any property that has a well, a swimming pool, a farm irrigation system, or any water source that isn’t already on the mains network. Instead of paying the EAC electricity bill for a conventional AC pump — or dealing with the connection cost of extending grid power to a remote source — a solar water pump takes energy directly from photovoltaic panels above ground and delivers water whenever the sun is out.

At CGP Solar we’re the authorised Cyprus distributor for Hybsun, a manufacturer that has focused exclusively on solar water pumps since 2005. Every pump we sell uses a brushless permanent-magnet DC motor operating at over 90% efficiency, with stainless steel or engineered-plastic construction built to handle Cyprus water conditions for 15–20 years of continuous service.

DC-only and AC/DC hybrid — available in every category

Every one of our solar water pump categories comes in both DC-only and AC/DC hybrid versions. Well pumps, pool pumps, surface pumps, agricultural pumps — you can choose according to your needs.

  • DC-only solar water pumps run directly off the panels through an MPPT controller. No inverter, no battery, no grid connection needed. Simplest system, lowest upfront cost, longest service life. Fills a storage tank during daylight, gravity delivers water 24/7.
  • AC/DC hybrid solar water pumps accept both solar DC input (typically 90–430V from panels) and AC mains input (90–300V from the EAC grid or a generator) in the same unit. During the day they run on solar, when the sun’s not out they auto-switch to grid without any manual intervention.

The short version: If you can fit a storage tank on your property, DC-only is the right choice — cheaper, simpler, longer-lasting. If you need water flowing at any hour without a tank buffer (greenhouse timers, livestock troughs, domestic pressure systems), the AC/DC hybrid is the right call.

Solar well pumps for boreholes

Solar well pumps are submersible units that drop into wells and boreholes. Our Hybsun range covers 3″, 4″ and 6″ borehole diameters, with pump depths from 20 m for shallow sources up to 210 m for deep production wells, and power ratings from 210 W to 2,200 W.

  • 3″ domestic pumps — DC-only series (3HR helical-rotor, 3UP, 3US stainless steel) for standard residential and off-grid installations up to 140 m deep. AC/DC hybrid version (3USH) for grid-backup applications up to 120 m.
  • 4″ main workhorse range — the largest category by product count. Covers DC-only (4US series) for daytime pumping and drip irrigation, AC/DC hybrid (4USH, 4UPH) for critical supply and large agricultural use, and the AC/DC hybrid 4GPH high-speed series — a 5,500 W high-flow pump for commercial and high-demand applications up to 120m head. Depths from 45m up to 210m.
  • 6″ commercial pumps — larger-diameter submersibles for high-flow farms, hotels, and public water supply. Available in DC-only (6US) and AC/DC hybrid (6USH). Handles the daily volumes that 3″ and 4″ pumps can’t cover.

Common installs across Cyprus include reactivating older wells in Paphos villages (Polis, Peyia, Pissouri), agricultural boreholes across the Nicosia plain (Astromeritis, Peristerona, Kokkinotrimithia), and deep production wells in the Kokkinochoria potato-growing region (Sotira, Liopetri, Frenaros).

Solar pool pumps for swimming pools

Solar pool pumps circulate and filter swimming pool water using solar energy instead of grid electricity. A conventional pool pump running 6–8 hours a day through the swimming season is one of the highest electrical loads on most villa properties — typically €40–100 per month on the EAC bill during summer. A DC-only solar pool pump eliminates that cost during daylight hours, which is exactly when pools are most likely to be used and when water needs the most filtration.

Our Hybsun pool pump range covers two product lines and both power configurations:

  • TSP and TSP-H series — entry-level 500 W pumps for smaller pools, available in DC-only (TSP500) and AC/DC hybrid (TSP-H500).
  • SSP and SSP-H series — main range for standard and large villa pools, from 500 W up to 1200 W. DC-only versions (SSP500, SSP900, SSP1200) and AC/DC hybrid (SSP-H900) for pools needing evening or year-round filtration.

Popular install across coastal villas in Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, and the Famagusta district.

Solar surface pumps for tanks and irrigation

Solar surface pumps sit above water level and draw from a nearby source — a storage tank, a pond, a river, a cistern, or a shallow well. Easier to install and service than well pumps because nothing gets lowered into a borehole. Ideal for properties that already have a storage reservoir or open water source, or as a booster pump between a well and a distribution network.

The Hybsun surface pump range includes:

  • SCPM1500-17/55E — DC-only 1,500 W surface pump delivering up to 55 metres of head pressure, for drip irrigation networks, elevated tanks and rural distribution.
  • CPM-H1500-17/55G — AC/DC hybrid version with grid backup for properties that need continuous supply regardless of daylight.

Solar pumps for agricultural irrigation

Solar pumps for agriculture are the most commercially important category for Cyprus farmers given the current cost of irrigation electricity and diesel. Two main types in our range:

  • Solar jet pumps — medium-flow pumps for orchards, drip irrigation systems, vineyards, and small-to-medium farm plots. The Hybsun JET-H750-55/3E (AC/DC hybrid) and SJET750 (DC-only) cover most agricultural jet-pump applications.
  • High-flow submersibles — 4″ and 6″ pumps for larger farms, deep agricultural boreholes and greenhouse operations that need significant daily volume. Available in DC-only for daylight irrigation, or AC/DC hybrid for schedules that have to run regardless of solar availability.

Solar irrigation has a specific advantage that other applications don’t: the sun is at its strongest between late morning and early afternoon, which is exactly when daytime irrigation is most effective — water is delivered before the peak heat causes excessive evaporation, so more of what you pump actually reaches the roots. This is what makes solar economics particularly strong for vineyards in the Krassochoria (Omodos, Vasa), olive groves across Paphos and Limassol districts, and citrus orchards inland from Larnaca.

Where solar water pumps make the most sense in Cyprus

Certain property types across the island get the most economic value from a solar water pumps. Based on the installs we’ve completed:

  • Villas with swimming pools — anywhere along the coast: Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Protaras. Pool pumps are the highest recurring electrical cost on most villa EAC bills and the fastest solar payback of any pump type.
  • Rural properties with old wells — Polis, Peyia, Pissouri and inland Paphos villages have thousands of dormant wells that make excellent candidates for reactivation with a DC solar well pump.
  • Vineyards and wineries — Omodos, Vasa and the Krassochoria wine region use solar borehole pumps and surface pumps for vine irrigation.
  • Farms in the Cyprus interior — Astromeritis, Peristerona, Kokkinotrimithia, Lythrodontas rely on borehole water for crops.
  • Greenhouses around Larnaca — Kiti, Meneou, Athienou, Aradippou operations run scheduled irrigation on AC/DC hybrid pumps.
  • Potato and vegetable farms in Famagusta — Sotira, Liopetri, Frenaros, Deryneia and the wider Kokkinochoria region depend on borehole and surface pumping.
  • Off-grid Troodos properties — mountain homes and isolated sites where extending EAC would cost more than the pump itself.

What to send us for a solar water pump quote

To spec the right solar water pump for your Cyprus property, we need four pieces of information:

  • Water source — well depth, pool volume, tank size, or source distance for surface pumps
  • Daily water requirement — litres per day (for household use, count roughly 100–130 L per person as a Cyprus average, or check your last water bill; for irrigation, we can help calculate)
  • Whether you need water at night — this determines DC-only vs AC/DC hybrid
  • Property location — for delivery and installation logistics

CGP Solar supplies and installs solar water pumps in every Cyprus district — from coastal villas to remote farmland.  Our certified team handles the full installation from mounting the panels to commissioning the pump and testing water flow. Every pump carries the manufacturer’s warranty, processed locally in Cyprus through us.

FAQ’s

Most asked questions
about solar water pumps in Cyprus

What’s the difference between pool and well pumps?

Pool pumps are surface-based and optimize for chemical balance. Well pumps are submersible, built for pressure and depth.

How much do solar water pumps cost?

Prices vary based on pump capacity and application.

Exact quotes depend on depth, flow rate, and system complexity—contact us for a tailored guide.

How long do solar water pumps last?

Most quality DC solar pumps have working lifespans of 15–20 years with basic maintenance. The solar panels themselves carry 30-year power output warranties. Submersible pumps have shorter service intervals than surface pumps because they run underwater.

Can I use a solar water pump for my swimming pool at night?

Not directly — DC solar pool pumps only run when the sun’s out. But pool water doesn’t need 24-hour filtering; running the pump 6–8 hours during daylight is enough to keep the pool clean. If you specifically need night circulation, we have AC/DC hybrid swimming pool pumps.

What’s installation of solar water pumps like?

1–3 days: mounting, wiring, pump placement. Simple site prep—minimal excavation needed.

Is Cyprus sunshine enough year-round?

Yes—even in winter, panels produce ~60–70% of peak output, sufficient to run pumps with scheduled operation.

Are these systems grid-connected?

Hybrid versions can switch to grid if solar is low—ideal for emergency or off-hours use.

Are there any subsidies available foe solar water pumps?

Cyprus currently doesn’t offer subsidies for solar water pumps.
