What are solar panels?

Solar panels are the main component of a solar power plant. They consist of photocells that directly convert the sun’s energy into electricity.

The panel has the following sequence of layers from top to bottom:

  • glass plate;
  • sealing material;
  • photocells;
  • sealing material;
  • protective film or glass.

On the inside, there is a block of input-output devices with electrical contacts for connection.

When choosing a solar panels, the main question is – which solar panels are more efficient?

Rated power output of a panel is a measure that shows how much electricity it can produce under ideal conditions. The power depends on the combination of voltage and current in real time – the best combination of them is called the point of maximum power.

A standard ideal environment – lighting density of 1000 W/m2, module temperature – 25°C, complete absence of wind and a certain spectrum of radiation. In real conditions, the modules will produce, in the best case, about 75-85% of the power from the passport value.

Temperature coefficient of power change – the lower it is, the better. The panel heats up during operation, and its efficiency decreases. The coefficient reflects the effect of panel temperature increase on its performance.

Physical size – when the space on a roof or a plot of land is limited, the height, width and length of a solar panel are very important.

When choosing, you should pay attention to the deviation of the actual power of the photomodule from its nominal value, called power tolerance. It can be both negative and positive – the negative deviation should be slightly more than 3%. But it is better if the deviation is with a “+” sign – in this case, you will not have to overpay for the missing Watts. If several panels are connected in series, the entire chain of devices will operate at the power of the panel that has a negative tolerance.

For example, if in a series connection of 5 solar batteries of 400W each, one will have a power of 3% less, then the devices of the entire circuit will produce only 1940W instead of 2000W.

How much does a solar panel cost?

The price of a solar panel is determined by the following factors:

  • application of innovative and effective technologies, scientific developments;
    quality of materials;
  • panel type: monocrystalline have the highest price, polycrystalline are slightly cheaper;

  • scale of production;
